ACA L3 Coastal Kayak Skills/Trip Leader Assessment

We are combining the ACA personal skills and trip leader assessment. You will have the opportunity to receive both certifications if skill requirements are met, or possibly the skills assessment only if the trip leader requirements need work.

This assessment is for paddlers who have a practiced efficient self rescue, experience with assisted rescues and are comfortable controlling their boat in waves 1-2 feet and wind 10-15k. The ability to demonstrate one roll within 3 attempts is required for the Trip Leader assessment (not the skills assessment). More course info here on ACA web page. Trip leader training course prior to assessment highly recommended.
