Transition to Coast - Oregon North Coast with camping option

(Class Full) contact me for future dates

This class is designed to transition the inland kayaker to become an independent coastal paddler

If you are wondering if this class is for you, then the answer is yes.

This course was designed based on feedback from paddlers wanting to make the transition from paddling inland rivers and bays to the open waters of the Pacific Coast. It was designed to help get you through the transition onto the coast.

Location: TBD pending conditions. Day one most likely Cascade Head or area, day 2 possibilities include Cape Falcon, Ecola Beach, Netarts. Contact me for more info.

Camping Option: We have reserved campsites near Garibaldi for Saturday night. This will be a shared fee depending on number of campers. Contact me for more info.

To paddle on the coast you need the ability to get from the shore to open water, and back. So on day 1 we will work on skills such as identifying and reading the surf zone, holding position in that zone, bracing, side surfing, surfing, launching & landing. And how to plan for a trip including day 2.

On day 2, conditions permitting (normally smaller late July), we will go beyond the surf zone to explore the open coast. Where we may find arches, caves and the ability to be where you have gazed while looking from the oceans shores. If conditions are too large to access the outer coast, we will explorer other options.

We will focus on paddling as a team, including how to explorer the coast and give your team the skills to help out when someone is in need. Current coastal paddlers can also get a lot out of this class as each student will be have the opportunity to be individually challenged increasing and developing their skills.

Cost $249 Plus 6% booking company fee. (Min 3 - Max 5 students)

Comfort in Conditons

Comfort in Conditons

Take your paddling to the next level. Confidence and solid foundation skills are often the key.

This class has been designed by Bill Vonnegut (About Bill) to accelerate your paddling skills in dynamic water. Bridging the gap between a knowledge of skills and applying them in the conditions you have always wanted to paddle.

Supportive strokes and bracing will be one focus of this class, because recovery techniques are often preferable to a roll. Strategies for paddling in wind, waves and rough water rescues will also be addressed.

By increasing your confidence and refining technique, you will find yourself with a new level of skill and comfort both in and out of your boat.

This class will be launching from Horseshoe Cove and (conditions permitting) will head out the Golden Gate. It is intended for sea kayakers who have experience paddling on open water such as San Francisco Bay, some Open Coast and Surf Zone experience.  A combat roll is not required but recommended, as we will work on refining your roll.

COST: $129 (Minimum Enrollment: 3; Maximum Enrollment: 5)

Please note: Cost does not include kayak and gear rental. Boats & Gear can be rented from California Canoe & Kayak

This class is booked through River & Ocean Coaching Collective

PLEASE READ THE CANCELLATION POLICY WHEN BOOKING.
