Coastal Kayaking Skills
coastal classes are developed to help you be the independent ocean sea kayaker you never thought you could be.
This class is intended for sea kayakers who have experience paddling on open waters such as San Francisco Bay or the Columbia River and are seeking to expand their horizons to the open coast. A combat roll is not required.
*Intro to Surf Zone class or equivalent experience is suggested prior to this class*
We will work on interpreting marine forecasts, planning a trip with use of a chart, finding suitable places to land, strategy for coastal paddling. We will also discuss risk assessment and challenge you to think about what if things do not go as planned. This course is intended to build your skills and confidence to help prepare you for open coast paddling.
